An open 24-by-16-inch crate, 12″ tall, from 1×4 slats on 1×2 corner cleats. Big enough for firewood or garden tools.

How to build it
- Cut 6 side slats at 24″, 6 end slats at 16″, three bottom slats at 22½″ and four cleats at 12″.
- Glue and nail 3 end slats to two cleats to make each end panel, with a small gap between slats.
- Stand the end panels up and nail the side slats across them, overlapping the cleats.
- Turn the crate over and nail the bottom slats across the ends.
- Sand the edges. Leave it raw, or wax it if it's staying indoors.
