Tips for working with 2×4 scraps
- Most 2×4s are construction-grade softwood, so choose the straightest piece and cut around knots.
- The rounded factory edges show on finished projects. Plane or sand them off if you want crisp corners.
- Pressure-treated 2×4 isn't suitable for anything indoors or anything that touches food.
